20 minutes

So, today, I had an idea of what I wanted to do for my 20-minute art piece.
I started to sketch it out..and realized I'd rather use what was coming out for another I waited for the clock to hit another number-mark (10, 20, 30, etc. Nice, round, easy to glance at & check if I'm under or out of time) and started over.

A lil 20-Minute-Monster. Pen & digital airbrushing for colour.
I'm starting to enjoy my art again, despite the ups(apparently on vacation without me) and downs (and all their friend, relatives, pets and enemies) visiting. Not sure if it shows or not, but I do know that sometimes you wind up imparting a bit of your emotive essence into your work, wether sad, angry, happy, peaceful, whatever, while you're working on it.

More musical inspiration

This image started off being watercoloured to a song called Basshead by Bassnectar.
Very repetitive beat and lyric. By the time the robot shell was done and coloured in, the song was over (took a while to get the colours of rust I wanted..think I'm out of practice with mixing colours).
New songs started in, and I wanted to keep with the mechanical motif.
Still, for all of 20 minutes actual work (including colour mixing), I think it's not too shabby.

The robot & background are watercolour on a grainy brush, the swirls are watercolour off a diffuse brush, the gears are thick wet impesto and the shadow-aura around the robot & yellow glow in the corners are airbrush. The eyes are simple ink.

15 minutes of

Technically 16 minutes, as I still had to sign it.
Some watercolour for background & shading, and simple pen through the rest.

15 minutes. Maybe next time I should start with something in mind, and I'll get a better image.
What can you get done in 15 minutes?

Still tweaking

Which completely sucks.
It's not everyday that I have to reinstall everything and try to remember how I got things the way I like them.

And for some really retarded reason, my art programs are just fighting me.

Makes me want to decompile them and implement a `don't fight your master` clause in the code.

Hopefully I'll be good to go for Wednesday

Well, everything's re-installed, hopefully for the last time for a few years (preferably for good, until I upgrade to something much better).

Unfortunately, my art-related programs are all boggy and very slow to respond, which is so damned frustrating when you're used to them being as in-sync as moving your own hand.
So, no post tonight.

Gotta get this crap fixed up right, back to the status-quo, only better (because the status quo crashed).
So, in the meantime, here's something I don't think I've posted.. was trying for a quad-colour nostalgia bit, but I have to redo the images inside the colours...maybe in contrasting colours against the backgrounds..
